spicy whipped body butter is perfect for fall!

I am so excited about this new spicy whipped body butter recipe!

One of the most popular recipes of late around here is my lavender-lemon whipped body butter. And I get that. I love it too, and it took a long time to find a recipe that was non-greasy. I want that magic combination of rich and moisturizing, without leaving any residue. I went through several variations before I finally found one that I really loved.

The secret is arrowroot powder. Just a small amount magically creates a body butter that is lush and moisturizing, yet absorbs into the skin beautifully. I’ve made it a few times now and am really happy with the results!

Now that September is here I thought it would be fun to do a “fall” version, using cinnamon and clove essential oils in place of the lavender and lemon.

It smells just like fall and I can’t wait for you to try it. Check my stories later on Instagram; I did a video showing the process if you want to see some BTS action!

This recipe is exactly like the previous one, except I halved the ingredients to make a smaller batch (the earlier recipe I shared was for a batch I was giving out to friends). Simply double these ingredients to make more!

1/2 cup shea butter
1/4 cup refined coconut oil
6 tablespoons sweet almond oil
1 tablespoon arrowroot powder
2 teaspoons Vitamin E oil
15 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil
15 drops Clove essential oil

In a heatproof bowl set over barely simmering water melt the shea butter, coconut oil and sweet almond oil. Remove from heat, cool slightly and place in the fridge till the bowl is cold and it’s starting to set but not yet hardened (if that should happen simply leave out at room temperature till it softens).

Add the arrowroot powder, Vitamin E, Cinnamon Bark and Clove oils, and whip on high speed with a hand or stand mixer for 5 – 10 minutes, or till firm peaks form. Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature.[/recipe-card]
