this all natural shoe deodorizer WORKS!!
Okay – talking about an all natural shoe deodorizer is not the sexiest thing ever, but it’s August.
And here we are.
Whether it’s gym sneakers, soccer cleats, gardening clogs or my favorite – shoes-without-socks – stinky shoes are a force to be contended with.
Add in some warm weather, and well, here we are.
This all natural shoe deodorizer couldn’t be easier (4 ingredients!), is all natural (pantry ingredients! essential oils!) and WORKS.
Baking soda is a solid odor crusher (we all have that box in the back of the fridge, right?). And arrowroot powder absorbs moisture (check it out in my dry shampoo and non-greasy body butter!).
As for the essential oils, I’m partial to Thieves and Lemon: a) they both smell SO good, and b) they excel in the deodorizing department. Other options include Tea Tree, Purification or any citrus oils.
And it’s as simple as combining in a bowl, stirring to mix and storing in a sealed jar.
To use either sprinkle a little in the bottoms of your shoes prior to wearing OR (if things are really out of control) sprinkle a thicker layer in and let sit overnight, shaking out the excess in the morning.

1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
30 drops essential oil (I do equal parts Thieves and Lemon)
Place all ingredients in a bowl – stir or whisk to combine and get rid of any clumps. Transfer to an airtight jar to store.
