Simply put – this J. Crew pant is THE perfect pant. And I’m going to tell you why. Because you’re probably looking at this picture and thinking, really? THIS is the perfect pant?

Yes it is.

While I love a good jean, I am always on the hunt for what I consider to be the perfect pant. Ideally, a pant that:

sweater/shoes

1. Comes in black and either white or ivory.

2. Has a high waist for tucking in, should I choose to do so.

3. Has a “bit” of stretch.

4. Is machine-washable (this is non-negotiable; I am OVER dry cleaning).

5. Has a subtle flare.

6. Is not too light but not too heavy – ideally, wearable in at least 3 seasons in New York.

7. Will hit somewhere between full-length and cropped.

I mean business when it comes to the perfect pant.

I saw these on the J. Crew site last spring, and they looked promising. The inseam was a bit short for me (in fairness they ARE advertised as cropped), but I ordered the tall so that they fell to my ankle – I have long legs in proportion to the rest of me so you’ll want to measure accordingly for a fit that works for you.

I ordered the ivory and black and basically LIVED in them all summer. And as you can see by the images here, they will sail beautifully through fall and all but the bitterest cold days of winter.
