If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and delightfully fun holiday starter, this smoked trout dip is it. I’ve been loving Fishwife’s Smoked Rainbow Trout, and it shines here — mixed with lemon, chives, and a few simple ingredients for a creamy, savory dip that tastes way fancier than it is.

Best part? You serve it right in the tin, tucked into a bag of potato chips. Zero fuss, maximum charm, and perfect for last-minute hosting.

Why You’ll Love This

This dip is the definition of easy holiday entertaining: just a handful of ingredients, no special equipment, and it’s ready in minutes. Serving it right in the tin makes for the cutest presentation (and the simplest cleanup), and pairing it with a bag of potato chips means you’ve got an instant crowd-pleaser with almost zero effort.

Make Ahead

The dip can be made up to a day in advance — in fact, the flavors only get better as it chills. Just keep it covered in the fridge, then spoon it back into the tin right before serving. Bring to the table nestled into a fresh bag of chips for maximum impact.

FAQ

Can I swap the trout for another Fishwife product?
Yes! Their smoked salmon or smoked albacore both work beautifully here — just be sure to drain well and flake lightly before folding in.

What chips work best?
A sturdy, salted potato chip is ideal. Wavy or kettle-style hold up especially well to the creamy dip.
