Summer’s almost here and you NEED these easy 4 ingredient Golden Oreo milkshake popsicles in your life!

you know I love a popsicle!

I’ve been sharing popsicle recipes on this blog for almost as long as I’ve been writing it! IMHO nothing is better on a hot summer day than grabbing a sweet and tasty treat from the freezer. I just love the idea of this portable dessert on a stick, and if you’ve been following me you know that the possibilities are endless! And unlike homemade ice cream, you don’t need any fancy, bulky equipment to make these happen – just a popsicle mold, popsicle sticks and a few simple ingredients!

is there anything better than an Oreo?

While I love baking – and cookies are probably my favorite treats to make – if I’m grabbing a package of store bought, it’s going to 100% be Oreo cookies. In fact, one of the first pops I made – almost 10 years ago – was an Oreo popsicle! I used original Oreos back then, and was craving them recently so decided to make them with Golden Oreos (my personal fave)!

have you ever made a cookie milkshake?

A cookie milkshake is just what it sounds like – cookies, ice cream and milk blended into a creamy milkshake. Cookie milkshake popsicles are a riff on this drink, just without the ice cream!

what’s in a Golden Oreo milkshake pop?

You literally need only 4 ingredients to make these delicious popsicles:

whole milk
heavy cream
granulated sugar
Golden Oreos

how do you make this Oreo popsicles recipe?

The best part of this recipe – other than its deliciousness, of course – is how insanely easy and fast it is to pull together!

Simply place the milk, heavy cream, sugar and 8 of the Oreos into a blender or food processor, and blend for about 30 seconds. Place a whole Oreo into each of your popsicle molds and pour the blended mixture in. Freeze till slushy, add your popsicle sticks and freeze overnight!

Remove the pops from the mold and enjoy your very own homemade Oreo popsicle!

you can use ANY cookie you like in these homemade popsicles!

Clearly I love Oreos – but honestly you can use any storevbought cookie you like. Check out these peanut butter fluff pops I made, using Nutter Butter cookies if you need some inspiration! Simply use the same number of sandwich cookies, or about double the amount of single cookies, and reserve enough for one whole cookie to go in each mold before adding the rest to your milkshake mixture.

And while I love the look of a whole Oreo cookie peeking through each of the popsicles, there is something to be said for chunks of Oreo swirled through the entire pop. If that’s your preference, just place the Oreos in a ziplock bag and gently crush with a rolling pin. Place a few Oreo chunks in each mold and then proceed with the recipe as usual.

this recipe can easily go gluten free, vegan AND sugar free too!

It just gets better! These pops are a great way to serve up a delicious dessert to anyone with a dietary restriction, without any sacrifice of flavor!

To make these pops gluten free, just swap the Oreos for any GF cookie that you like – it’s as simple as that!

Oreos are one of those “accidentally vegan” foods, so to convert this recipe to an all-vegan one, swap the milk for your fave dairy-free alternative and the same for the heavy cream (or use coconut cream in its place).

I made a completely sugar-free ice cream sandwich cake for a loved one last year and was pleasantly surprised at the array of sugar free packaged cookies out there. For this recipe I’d use sugar free cookies and just eliminate the granulated sugar, as sugar free items tend to taste more “sweet” anyway.

and don’t stop there!

You can also get creative with the milkshake base! Add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder or espresso powder, a splash of vanilla extract or a swirl of chocolate syrup. The sky is truly the limit and this is a fun one to experiment with.

And while of course a decadent dessert always has its place, summer is for easy, fun treats – let me know if you try this recipe!
