diy: homemade nutella {vegan}

homemade nutella is easy, delicious and only 5 ingredients!

If not now, when????

I had some leftover hazelnuts from a client shoot, and wasn’t quite sure what to do with them (they’re not a nut I ever really use).

And then I remembered:

NUTELLA IS MADE FROM HAZELNUTS.

And though I’ve used Nutella in so many recipes (popsicles! cookies! brownies! fudge!), I’ve never actually made my own.

TILL NOW.

And since it’s been a minute since I gave you a vegan recipe I made it dairy-free too.

SO SO good!

It all gets mixed up in the food processor and takes hardly any time at all – especially if you start with skinned hazelnuts, which is what I happened to have.

Passover is coming up and as always I love to share as many holiday-appropriate recipes as possible – wait till you see how I’m going to use this Nutella (other than eating it straight from the jar)!

Homemade Nutella {Vegan}

1 1/2 cups skinned hazelnuts
1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
large pinch of kosher salt

Process the nuts in a food processor till very finely ground. Melt the chocolate chips, coconut milk and maple syrup, stirring till well combined. Add to the processor along with the salt and process again till smooth and thick. Refrigerate in an airtight container.
