favor-“ette”: a eucalyptus shower

A eucalyptus shower is the $3 hack you won’t want to live without!

I came across this tip a while back and couldn’t wait to try it!

I’ve always been a fan of eucalyptus – as cut arrangements go, its clean lines, neutral color and strong simple leaves suit my decor and tastes perfectly.

What I didn’t know was that the oils from the plant’s leaves also provide the delightful benefits of aromatherapy (calming, stress relieving), AND can help to alleviate nasal congestion.

How? By hanging a bunch of fresh eucalyptus in the shower, where the steam can activate those oils most efficiently.

Yes, it’s that simple. Just tie a bunch of fresh sprigs with some twine or string (or even a rubber band), and hang in the shower! For best results, I like to lightly crush the leaves by going over them with a rolling pin or wine bottle, to help the release of the oils. And you’ll want to hang them on your shower head so that they are not positioned directly under the flow of the water.

And THAT’S IT.

It’s hard to get more bang for your three bucks than this – which is a pretty fine way to start the new year, don’t you think?

    Hi,

Good idea, but how long can you keep the same bouquet?

    Thanks 🙂

Good question!! That really depends on the bouquet – the freshness is so variable but I found I got easily 2 weeks! 🙂

Love this idea! Such a simple yet effective way to enjoy the calming benefits of eucalyptus—especially with the added aromatherapy and congestion relief. Definitely trying this in my next shower
