favor-“ette” a mixer tip

You know that moment right after you add flour to the mixer? Just before you turn it on, when you say a little prayer that the flour (and other dry ingredients) won’t go flying all over you – and your kitchen?

No matter how slowly and gently I turn on the mixer, I more often than not wind up with a spray of flour everywhere. As I typically wear black you can imagine how fun this is for me.

Well no more.

towel over mixer

Years ago I happened upon this nifty tip and it really works!

Simply drape a dry (or even better, a barely damp) kitchen towel over your mixer before turning it on. Any ingredients that come out of the mixer will get trapped by the towel, keeping you and your kitchen nice and clean!

If you’re baking as much as I am these days I know you will love this handy tip.
