Oh that Martha.
I have been an avid – no, more like rabid – fan of Martha Stewart’s for more than 20 years. I remember eagerly awaiting her Christmas special each year and was one of the first subscribers to her magazine – which I still look forward to and faithfully read today.
One of my favorite features of Martha Stewart Living is the “Good Things” section – I love it. What amazes me is that she and her staff manage to come up, each and every month, with so many easy, practical and good-looking ideas for the most everyday, mundane items . I couldn’t even tell you how many things I do in my day-to-day life that were most likely
ripped off from inpsired by a photo or feature in her magazine.
Proabably my favorite “good thing” of all is this boot tray:
I have 2 of them in my mud room and they get more comments than almost any other object in my house. They’re just simple galavanized metal trays but the magazine displayed them filled with smooth river stones. The stones look great, and even better, hide all the dirt that treks in with our shoes and boots.
It was simple, inexpensive and a pretty yet practical solution to a mostly overlooked area.
A good thing indeed.
Boot tray: I got mine at Smith and Hawken (sniffle), but you can find them elsewhere, like here.
River stones: Stones like these are available at craft stores, pet supply shops and most nurseries/landscape supply centers.
