So NYC – doing as it does – is everchanging. People/places/things come and go, and as such it can be a challenge to keep some of my posts as up-to-date as possible.
This last year saw a few additions for some of my favorite posts, and I thought I’d round them all up for you here (they will also live on the posts themselves as I get to revising them)!
Dessert Club ChikaLicious
The Deal: At the even tinier annex of the already-tiny Dessert Bar across the street, pastry chef Chika Tillman serves upscale versions of classic dessert fare such as pudding, ice cream and cupcakes.
The Love: There seemed to be a “moment” where images of ice-cream-filled churro cones from Prague were suddenly everywhere. Dessert Bar must’ve noticed too, and you can bet I ran over there to try one myself. As should you. (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter)
The Love: I went for the flavor of the month, “Forest Gump” – double vanilla ice cream with strawberry crumb cheesecake and blueberry compote covered pound cake (and it was as amazing as it sounds). But the Foxy Brown was calling my name too, TBH. (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter)
I knew that I had barely scratched the surface with my recent round-up. Two additions worth noting:
The Deal: An “all-vegan deli and food market inspired by the delicatessens of New York’s past”. With two floor-to-ceiling shelves stocked to the gills with pretty much any vegan grocery need you could ask for, this adorable shop also specializes in vegan riffs on classic New York sandwiches.
The Love: Will “The Edith” ever replace my beloved bagel/lox/cream cheese? No. But the cook in me enjoyed and appreciated the aesthetic and damn-near-close execution, using carrot lox and cashew cream cheese. And I have to admit my curiosity will probably get me back to try the (tempeh) BEC, (jackfruit) BBQ sandwich, and (chickpea) tuna on whole wheat. (Facebook/Instagram)

The Deal: Casual, Asian-fusion vegan fare.
The Love: The “love” comes via my dear friend Meg – who insisted this be added to the list. Chels and I are headed there soon, and I look forward to stuffing my face with #allthedumplings. (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter)

As for me? I’m SUPER excited about Rockaway Beach Bakery (superstar pastry chef Tracy Obolsky has permanently decamped to the Rockaways, and has set up shop right near my house!). Her salted honey croissant? Basically addicted.
