j/j/a15 capsule wardrobe – checking in

So – I’m about halfway through this capsule period and what can I say? I love it!

This approach continues to make life (a.k.a., mornings) much easier, and – as with the last capsule – I may even have TOO many choices.

I did swap out one pair of pants for a more comfortable pair, and relegated a dress (that I didn’t realize was too short AND too sheer) to “swim coverup” status. And there are items that I’ve not even worn yet – as you’ll see in the outfits I’ve put together so far.

I am clearly favoring easy, comfy ensembles:

And am LOVING the ease of throwing on a dress and feeling completely pulled together (even with sneakers!):

Almost 4 months into this process, I think the most important realization I’ve come to is the compulsive need many of us have to “acquire”. I used to get an enormous amount of satisfaction out of looking at a full, packed closet of clothes. But now I get the same jolt out of the one (not even filled) rack that I have to choose from.

I’m wearing the items that are my most favorite – and not caring how often I “repeat” (because who’s looking, anyway?). I’m not perusing websites on the daily, since I won’t be shopping again for at least another month, and I’m overall just thinking about clothes way, way less. Which is a good thing!

And I continue to discover more blogs devoted to the idea of “less is more”, that I think you’ll really enjoy:

Seasons and Salt – a new favorite. Andrea not only blogs about the capsule wardrobe, and living with less – but she also just moved her family of 5 from a home in the ‘burbs to a much smaller space right in the city of Portland. I love her philosophy AND her style.

The Lovely Laura Life – this blogger takes a slightly different approach, creating an all-seasons capsule. She looks at her wardrobe over the course of a whole year, rather than a few months at at time, which is an interesting concept. Her blog is beautifully photographed, and a great read, too!

So tell me – have you dipped a toe in yet? Or gone full-in? Let me know!

I feel like I almost have too much to choose from in my capsule too. I never would have expected that. Love your dresses. And thanks for the shout out. 😉

Thank you! Have you been to Tumbleweed? I have SO many dresses from that store – it’s one of MANY reasons why I want to visit Portland one day! 🙂
