living a well tended life... at any age

favor-“ette”: FoodyDirect

A few times a week I’ll receive an e-mail from a brand, ad agency or PR firm, asking if I’d be interested in doing a product review. And most of the time I say no (especially if the note opens with “Dear DonutsDressesandDirt”).

I value and respect the time you spend here, and never want you to read a post and come away thinking, “Really? She posted about that?”. So I only share with you the good stuff. The stuff I’ve discovered and love. The stuff I think YOU’LL love to discover.

So when the nice people at FoodyDirect reached out to me  – and I clicked over to the site to learn more – I couldn’t say “yes” quickly enough.

FoodyDirect was born out of the notion that – just because you don’t live in NYC/Buffalo/Memphis – it doesn’t mean you can’t have access to amazing bagels/wings/barbecue. They have curated a site FILLED with every manner of delicious, regional, you’ve-seen-it-on-Instagram-a-million-times food – ready to ship right to your door (all images courtesy of FoodyDirect):

Cookies.

Deli.

Babka.

Macarons.

And there are even a few familiar names that you’ve seen  (probably more than once) right here:

Black Seed Bagels

Red Hook Lobster Pound (and here. and here.)

City Bakery

I was delighted to have the chance to try FoodyDirect for myself – and if you were following along on my trip to Austin last year, you will not be surprised to learn that I chose Memphis Ribs and Pulled Pork from Central BBQ (rated the best barbecue in Memphis – stay tuned; I can’t wait!).

Obviously, FoodyDirect is a great way to experience for yourself the best regional foods from all over the country. But this would also make an amazing gift for someone special. Maybe you hosted friends who were visiting your city – and who are now craving some of the favorite foods they experienced while they were there. Or a loved one has just moved across the country and is missing her fave lox and bagels – send a care package! Or you’re having a theme party and want to serve the most authentic food – right from the source.

And with Mother’s Day around the corner, a “care package” filled with mouth-watering goodies would be a welcome – and unique – change from flowers or perfume. The Foody Direct Mother’s Day page is filled with great ideas – from cheesecake to cheese platters, caviar to crab legs.

Of course my mom would love a box of bacon.

I am super impressed with the array of fabulous options available on this site – and I just knew you’d love to know about it too.

So what are you going to order?

Note: I was not compensated for this post. FoodyDirect kindly sent me a complimentary package of my choosing; all comments and opinions expressed here are – as always – completely my own.
