mason jar pour spout

SO many uses for this DIY mason jar pour spout!

I know I just shared a mason jar post, but this mason jar pour spout was too good not to share! It’s adorable, easy – and basically FREE.

I’ve had the same little jar, filled with kosher salt, for years. When the hinge finally snapped off I knew it was the right time to attempt this little hack.

Easy.

Peasy.

Here’s how you make a mason jar pour spout:

Using a knife, slice off the top of an empty salt canister. Using the mason jar ring as a template, cut out a circle. Reassemble the lid.

That’s it! I used a piece of kraft paper to layer over the cardboard circle, as shown; you can use laminating paper over it to keep spills and stains away.

There are so many uses for this idea – spices, baking ingredients, art supplies, sprinkles – you get it.

Happy Tuesday!

Jeez, that is brilliant. I have about a zillion mason jars, rings, and I’ve gotten rid of plenty of salt containers over the years. Except now I have to wait for another one. And it’s full. BOO.

Really a great idea! Some things are so hard to pour without spilling this is perfect.

And so easy (THIS coming from the non-craftiest person around!)!

do you have any ideas that would work to put epsom salts with the pour spot but a waterproof lid??

Maybe some sort of covering for the cardboard? Or using a water-resistant material (like a thick plastic or rubber) in place of the cardboard?

Amazon may carry plastic pour spouts.

Plastic lids from Parmesan cheese fit on small-mouth (“regular”) mason jars. It doesn’t have a pour spout, but it does have a flip top! (My husband drills a hole in the plastic Parmesan lids so that a straw will fit exactly, so we have covered drinks. We have purchased the jars with metal lids with straw holes already in them, but found that they soon rust.) [By the way, your pour spout idea is genius!]

Sheer genius! I made one, covered the cardboard, and gave it to my daughter-in-law to hold beads, etc.
