Mason jars – have you heard of them?
JK…
It’s all but impossible to scroll Pinterest, Instagram or most food/craft/lifestyle blogs without being assaulted by the next cute way to use a mason jar – from photo frames to hanging lights, soap dispensers to terrariums.
Yes, the mason jar is certainly having its moment – so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and share MY favorite way to use it – and I’ve got a great recipe too (natch).
Did you know that a typical size mason jar fits perfectly in your blender base?
Yup.
So for those times where you want to make a smoothie or shake for one or two, skip the pitcher and screw in your mason jar instead. You’ll have less clean-up and the jar serves as a cute container too!
This tip is also great for grinding coffee and spices, and making small amounts of whipped cream (as if).
And MY favorite drink to make in the blender? A straight up coffee malted.
Now go grab those striped paper straws and get to work!
2 generous scoops of coffee ice cream
1/2 c. milk
3 T. (heaping) malted milk powder
Combine all ingredients in your blender – blend till smooth.

You have got to be kidding me. And so now I’m running into my kitchen and seeing this for myself. You are the Queen of the kitchen hacking. I’m making you a kraft paper crown after I play with my blender.
Love,
Shalagh
As long as the crown has chevron stripes… 😉 Thank you as always for your generous compliments Shalagh! xo
