favor-“ette”: sonnet james

So excited about today’s post!

As I’ve written before, I really struggled with the whole “what to wear” thing after having Noah.  Having had two big kids for so long – as well as my own business – I was accustomed to dressing in a more stepped-up/less practical fashion than I had to when Chelsea and Conor were tiny. I was back in the stroller/diaper business, but wasn’t ready to go all the way back.

And as I’ve also written before, I eventually found a look that suited both my re-entry into new motherhood as well as my desire to look put together and stylish (as often as possible, anyway). And dresses play a big role.

Dresses over pants.

Dresses over shorts and skirts.

Dresses with sneakers, Hunters and sandals.

Are you getting me here? I mean, have you noticed the second word in my blog’s name?

Enter Sonnet James.

Created by the very talented Whitney Lundeen, “Sonnet James was born out of the idea that beautiful clothing should work for moms – durable, comfortable and beautiful, yet easy to care for. So enjoy your Sonnet James dress at the park, the museum and the city.”

Of course I couldn’t love this idea more.

Sonnet James dresses are adorable, comfortable, flattering and practical (no dry-clean-only here!). Best of all, they are incredibly versatile – and you know how much I love a multitasker!

Here’s my favorite dress –

I’ve ordered it in grey (of course), and am eyeing the navy too. This is that perfect transitional piece that will take you through several seasons. Here are just a few of the ways I envision styling “Marni”:

moto jacket scarf oxfords

jacket/scarf/oxfords

straw hat sandals

hat/sandals

jean jacke scarf checkered vansjacket/scarf/sneakers

moto jacket boots socksjacket/socks/boots

Can you tell how much I love this dress?

And it gets better – Whitney has been kind enough to extend a $10 discount to my wonderful readers! Simply enter the code SPRING10 at checkout. Shipping is free ($20 for international orders); all items are made in California.

I also wanted to mention that if you order the Marni in “Pink Priscilla”, 20% of all profits go to fistula repair in Ghana (check out this video to learn more about Dr. Priscilla Busingye and the amazing work she is doing to help women).

So go order a dress – or two!

Ok, I don’t have kids and I want these dresses. Like, all of them. I just took a gander at the Sonnet James website and loved just about everything: the vids, the marketing, the story. And they’re based in my neck of the woods! Gotta love that. Thanks for the intro!
