You know I do.
And this one is even better, because it’s the leftovers from another recipe.
Allow me to present…..ginger syrup!
My obsession with candied ginger prompted me to make my own recently. And it’s fabulous, let me tell you. One of the recipes I consulted suggested saving the cooking liquid (essentially a simple syrup), to make something called “ginger syrup”.
A bit more research revealed that ginger syrup is this lovely elixir that has many wonderful uses.
And I almost threw it away!
Here are just a few uses for ginger syrup:
Pour it over pancakes.
Drizzle it on fresh fruit (or baked winter squash).
Stir it into hot tea, smoothies and cocktails.
Make ginger ale! Simply place a few tablespoons of the syrup into a tall glass – fill with club soda and stir. Add ice and a wedge of lime and enjoy!
Decanted into a pretty bottle, this would make a lovely hostess or holiday gift too.
