I took Chelsea on a very special trip to Paris last month, to celebrate her college graduation. It was just us girls and I couldn’t have been happier.
I had been to Paris twice before, and Chelsea once – both of us there during the winter. We were excited about enjoying more pleasant weather, and as we were only going for 5 days we decided to forgo the typical touristy things (climbing the Eiffel Tower, visiting the Louvre) that we’d both done already.
Instead, we focused on three goals:
1. Taking in sights neither of us had seen.
2. Spending time people watching, and meandering around different neighborhoods.
3. Eating a ton of pastries. Literally.
One of our favorite neighborhoods is Le Marais. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, and one of the most charming. In addition to the beautiful architecture, there are many galleries, funky boutiques, and the best falafel in the city. We spent a lot of time exploring, and I was thrilled to discover Le Petit Atelier de Paris on one of our walks.
Le Petit Atelier de Paris is a boutique/workshop, and is exactly the kind of shop I always hope to find in my travels. It’s filled with the most lovely handmade housewares and gifts, the furthest thing from the typical “souvenirs” that I try to avoid.
The boutique itself was gorgeous, and the owners were kind enough to let me take some pictures.
I bought all of my gifts here – even the packaging was perfect. I couldn’t resist getting something for myself too.
I adore these little bud vases, and they are the first things I see when I open my door.
Everyone loved their gifts and I was thrilled to bring a little bit of “Le Marais” home with me!

What are those pieces with the numbers on them?
Thanks Melanie! I think they can represent your house number? I didn’t ask but that would be my guess! 🙂
Love it – the man and I want to return to Paris again soon. We’ve been separately before we met but not together.
Love the images…
