How about starting a loved one’s Valentine’s Day with this?
My dear friend Emily sent me the link to this tutorial on how to make a heart-shaped egg, and guess what? It’s so easy!
Here’s what you need:
1 peeled hard boiled egg* – this will work best on a freshly boiled egg that’s still warm; a cold egg might crack.
1 round chopstick (if you only have square chopsticks you can use a metal skewer inserted in a straw instead)
A stiff piece of v-shaped cardboard (a milk or juice carton works great)
2 rubber bands
Place your peeled egg in the center of the cardboard. Put the chopstick on top and secure it to the ends of the cardboard with your rubber bands, as shown. The chopstick should be pressing into the egg enough to make an impression, but not so hard as to crack it.
Let the egg sit for 10 minutes and remove it from the cardboard. You can cut it in half or use an egg slicer for multiple (thinner) slices.
Serve at breakfast to rave (and loving) reviews!
Happy Valentine’s Day all! xo
* How to hard boil an egg: place your eggs in a single layer in a saucepan, and fill with enough cold water to cover by 1-2″. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and cover. Let sit for 15 minutes and drain, running the eggs under cold water till cool enough to handle.
