a hip handmade holiday – giveaway!! (closed)

I have to laugh when people tell me I’m so creative, because nothing could be further from the truth. I’m what I call a good “executor”. Given proper instructions and the right materials I can pretty much make, bake or craft anything. But coming up with the ideas? Remember how excited I was when I invented my own recipe? That’s me.

Which is why I have such admiration for people who really do create – and execute – recipes and crafts.

And why I am a big – HUGE – fan of Alison Faulkner and Susan Petersen, who have collaborated on an awesome holiday craft book that you will want to download right away.

It’s called Hip Handmade Holiday and I couldn’t love it more. It is filled chock-full of easy, quick, and adorable homemade holiday gifts for everyone on your list – all for $10 or less. Here are just a few of the ideas you’ll find inside:

LOVE this lumberjack breakfast kit

I made one of these fab key chains at Camp Mighty – which means you can too…

Noah is going to LOVE these nutcracker bowling pins,

and this pop-up book too.

I wasn’t kidding when I said EVERYONE on your list (all photos courtesy of The Craft Pack)

In addition to the 18 craft projects, there are 9 videos and over 100 printable labels, gift tags stencils and stickers – perfect for all of my holiday cakes and cookies.

I was lucky enough to meet these two fabulous ladies at Camp Mighty last month, and they offered to give away a copy of Hip Handmade Holiday to one of my lucky readers (I told you these ladies rock)!

Simply leave a comment letting me know your secret crafting superpower – or one you wish you had.  Be sure to include your e-mail address if it’s not already linked to your comment. The giveaway is open through Saturday, December 8th at 5 p.m. EST. The winner will be chosen at random, and announced on Sunday, December 9th.

Okay, I’ll get the ball rolling: my secret crafting superpower is being able to cut and draw straight lines……free hand.

Good luck! Update: Jackie V. is the lucky winner! Thanks for participating!

Note: I was not compensated in any way for this post. All comments and opinions are completely my own.

Love these gals…

I always wish I was crafty with scrapbooking! Need to try that!
Also, funny you mention it- I cannot (I swear-even with a ruler!) draw straight lines!

my secret crafting power is…..that i actually want to do handmade things!! i think that’s the first step. and that i can sew items – pretty happy about that. what a great giveaway…thanks for the chance!

I WISH I could cut or draw a perfect circle or a perfect line. No such luck. 🙂

My crafting power is spray painting! I’m a spray painting machine. 🙂 melissabriggs@sbcglobal.net

My crafting downfall is packaging. The crafting superpower I most want is to be an awesome wrapper/packer/presenter present giver!

Ms Sheri you don’t give yourself enough credit 🙂
I consider myself crafty but one talent I wish I was better at would have to be baking.

WISH I could cut in a straight line!!!! I am terrible, put a pair of scissors in my hands and apparently I develop the shakes? My super power? Um… knitting? I’m 100% addicted and might as well own the shirt that says ‘would rather be knitting’… I only started a year ago and I may have a billion scarves, sweaters and more but I wrote my first pattern last week (will sell it soon I hope) and I just had my first ‘order’… someone wants to pay me to knit? Madness.

I’m currently enjoying making word clouds, through wordle.net and printing them out to make holiday gift tags —names on some/holiday words/lyrics on others.

My secret crafting power. I can sew, but have never used a pattern! I just make it up as I go!

  10. Mary Lauren on December 6, 2012 at 7:48 am

I wield a mean glue gun.

Hmm, I think executing -is- a crafting superpower all on it’s own! I’m great at executing as well, but if I had to narrow it down I think I rock at speed sewing. Otherwise known as doing all my holiday sewing projects at once because I’m also an ace procrastinator. 😉

Bows. My crafting super power is bows. My grandmother taught me to make the big fluffy kind when I was a kid and my packages have never been the same.

Hmmm, my crafting superpower is probably being able to draw simple things freehand!

My secret crafting superpower is being able to turn bits of random junk into things my kids like to play with more than the original random bits of junk – and of course, pretending the ones that go wrong are supposed to be something else!

I’m not sure if I have a crafting superpower, but I’m learning 🙂

I can totally understand Sheri! I always felt I could copy just about anything…painting, drawing, crafting, baking, but have trouble coming up with my own ideas. That’ s my superpower! I’m an impostor! Hee Hee!
