redux

I’m heading out shortly to meet Chelsea for a girls’ overnight in New York City.

By now you know that our family loves its traditions.  Whether it’s the same “first meal” at Disney, handmade signs for a birthday, or a movie date to celebrate the beginning of holiday break, we’ve gathered enough over the years to create a lifetime of memories.

This overnight is only in its 4th year. And as Chelsea will (hopefully) be working full-time next summer, this may be its last. In this form, anyway.

So it’s especially meaningful.

What will we do?

Well, we always stay in the same hotel. But we’re eating someplace new for dinner. Tomorrow morning is breakfast here, followed by shopping and aimless meandering (and by aimless, I mean Chelsea “somehow” winding up at the Marc Jacobs store).  And, if all goes according to plan, ordering and picking up a box of these (are you dying? We’re dying.).

And our overnight is never complete without several walks on the High Line. I typically only see the High Line during the day, so it’s a treat for me to experience it at night, all lit up, and in the early morning, before the hordes of visitors descend.

high line

I’d love to know what special family traditions you share with those you love – let’s inspire one another!

I’ll see you back here on Wednesday – till then you can follow our mini-adventure on Instagram (sherisilver).

Have a great day!

Yippeeeee! Sounds like SUCH a fun 24 hours, and I love that you gave us a sneak peek of the itinerary here… Already trying to figure out when I can make it to Dana’s. 😉 Hope you gals have the BEST time, and tell Chels that I say she’s a VERY lucky girl to have such a wonderful Mama.

What a great time you’ll have with your daughter and that’s a really lovely tradition. I hope it can continue even when she’s employed full-time. I look forward to hearing all about it xx

Bonne Route! Spent the day in Williamsburg with Kayla, yesterday. Beacon’s Closet, Brunch at 5 Leaf Cafe (?), on to Brooklyn Flea and a used bookshop. Quite a dose of “hipster” for one afternoon. Would have loved to stay overnight. Instead, it was back on the “BQE” home to Pleasantville.
(Thankfully I didn’t have to fight any Yankee Game traffic).

Have a great time in nyc.
