favor- “ette”: wantist

I have never put much stock in psychics or fortune tellers.

Till now.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending Blogstar’s Sunday Supper this past weekend, hosted by the lovely, engaging and uber-supportive Sarah Bryden Brown. I can’t wait to share my experience with you but I HAD to tell you right away about the amazing gift bag I received, courtesy of Wantist.

Wantist, created by Brittany and Jacob Reiff, is a gift-giving site that you will absolutely love. They have scoured the web to find the best, trendiest most give-able gifts around – and curated a collection that will ensure that you pick the perfect gift every time. You can search by gift (edible? quirky? stylish?) or person (artistic? geeky? outdoorsy?). In addition, there are gift wrapping and DIY ideas, holiday advice and gifting “faux pas” to avoid.

Wantist was asked to assemble a custom gift bag for each of the bloggers that attended the supper, having been directed to look at their sites for “clues” about what to give.

All I can say is this: I think Brittany and Jacob have been secretly living in my house. Either that, or they’ve read every single one of my blog posts (putting them in a very small and select group of people, consisting of my parents and husband). I have no other way of explaining how SPOT-ON my gifts were!

Let’s take a look!

I’ll start by saying how impressed I was with the handwritten note that accompanied my bag – love that.

Totally exciting for me was a black leather pouch by Baggu:

I can’t tell you how many times I have perused Baggu’s site, planning to purchase one of their adorable totes, bags or pouches. And as I was getting ready to leave for the supper, I was actually complaining about not having just the right little black clutch.

Coincidence???

Here’s a sweet little notebook by Poketo:

I definitely have a weakness for tiny notebooks, as I’m always jotting things down on the run (yes, I prefer a notebook to my smart phone). There’s something very satisfying about pulling out something so small and well-designed, that I use multiple times throughout the day. And this one is even better, because the pages are gridded – perfect for sketching out garden ideas.

HOW DID THEY KNOW THIS????

I got a lovely linen tea towel from Studio Patro (you MUST check out the video on their web site, showing 12 ways to use a tea towel – I’m stealing every single idea!):

I just started using decorative tea towels when taking photos of my baking creations – I think this one is frame-worthy.

These last gifts put me straight over the edge. I’ve written about how I prefer sugar over chocolate, as well as my penchant for caramels. So MAYBE they happened upon those posts. But I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned how much I adore white chocolate. So I just about fainted when I pulled out two lollipops from The Groovy Baker (too pretty to eat, don’t you think?) and a bar of caramelized white chocolate from Chocolate Editions:

These guys are GOOD.

I am so often stumped when it comes to picking out the perfect gift, especially as I get older. It seems like everyone has everything and it’s a challenge to find a gift that is truly original.

Wantist. You’re a little scary, but you’re my new best friend.

Thank you so much!

Those gifts are awesome. And yeah, maybe a little creepy. 🙂 I want the caramelized white chocolate bar to go along with my morning coffee. I can’t wait to read your recap about the event!

That is so cool! And I’m so sad that I live too far away to come to supper!

Ok, now that’s a little spooky – but only in the best possible way! Wantist sounds like exactly the kind of place the world needs – I will have to peruse their site in more detail, when I have a little more time, but the first impression is: whoa! Thanks so much for sharing and have fun with these pretty presents!
